TOOL NEWSLETTER, MAY, 2004 E.V. Five DAYS a Week Adam, Justin and Danny have been keeping to their rigorous schedule, writing and arranging material for the next Tool CD, this despite the Lakers being in the NBA play-offs, a fact of life which occupies a couple of the band members' nights (rehearsal/writing sessions go from noon 'till six). In a couple of weeks, when he's finished touring with APC, Maynard will join in on the ghastly fun (although he's already been quite involved), and hopefully, another web-cast can be arranged once more of the new songs begin to take shape. In the meantime, while talking to Danny the other night as the new Skinny Puppy release exploded from his living room speakers, he began to describe for me the complex time signatures of one of the new Tool songs, adding, after another sip of a Saint Pauli Girl (the German beer), that it was probably the best piece of music he'd ever been involved with. And this after only a half of a bier. APC As I write, the band draws ever closer to the center of civilization, about to play two nights at THE JOINT in Las Vegas (Thursday, June 3rd and Friday the 4th). Sounds like a good excuse to load up the silver Coleman and head out into the desert. Speaking of which, Coleman's 2004 stainless steel model is now in stores. I went to check it out the other day and was a bit disappointed. That's because it is painted red. It will, however, look good next to my "Millennium" silver and black one at the next Raiders/Chiefs game in December. A PERFECT CIRCLE will then perform at the Universal Amphitheater here in Los Angeles on Saturday night, June 5th. PLC With the release of "THE POWER OF BEEF" in stores on June 8, The Pigmy Love Circus will be playing a few dates on the west coast. On 6/12 they will grace the KEY CLUB in Hollywood, on 6/16 at THE POUND in San Francisco, 6/19 brings them to THE BOARDWALK in Sacramento (Kings fans won't have to worry about missing this one due to the NBA play-offs), and 6/25 at CANES in San Diego. BUTCHER Camella Grace and company will be performing at ESTROFEST (Short Films and WOMEN that Rock) at CINESPACE in Hollywood Wednesday, June 9th. The event (hosted by Shauna Stoddart and Kipling Rowe) gets under way at 8:00 PM. Lots of art, short films, music by Butcher, and, hopefully girls at this one. Cinespace is located at 6356 Hollywood Blvd. Admission is $10.00. For more information go to estrofestfilms.com or call 310-335-0273.
HAPPY TRAILS
